Air temperature (Baseline)

Overview

This layer shows air temperature at 3 p.m. based on current, baseline conditions. Air temperature is calculated using an empirical model that considers maximum daily temperature from Daymet as well as tree fraction, albedo, distance to water, time, wind, and solar radiation. This data is calculated for all land areas

Function
To assess how air temperature varies within a city.

Data corresponds to one historical day of reference based on highest registered air temperature during 2021.
Cautions
Air temperature is modeled using statistical relationships, which introduce uncertainty and potential bias in the resulting estimates. Daymet itself is an interpolated dataset derived from station observations, and therefore also contains errors—particularly in areas with sparse monitoring or complex local conditions—so results should be interpreted as approximations rather than precise measurements.
